The model Hospice Patient's Bill of Rights was developed and approved by the Hospice Association of America (HAA) and its Advisory Board of Directors. The two-page document includes sections on: Dignity and Respect, Decision-making, Privacy, Financial, Quality of Care and Patient/Caregiver Responsibilities. It provides information for clients' decision-making and appropriate service expectations. It also outlines both the clients' and the hospice provider's rights. The Hospice Patient's Bill of Rights satisfies Medicare requirements, but some state requirements may differ and should be verified to assure compliance.
