NAHC Hospice Cost Report Data Compendium

The NAHC Hospice Cost Report Data Compendium is an in-depth analysis of Medicare cost reports filed by hospice agencies in 2007 and 2008. NAHC has acquired 3,995 valid filed cost reports to develop this Compendium. For purposes of this compendium, data available are for costs only, and revenue data are not provided.  NAHC's analysis of the cost reports shows that cost data are reliable; however, some issues were discovered in assessing the revenue data.  Because of the issues with revenue information, NAHC had decided to publish and release the reliable cost information, and hopes to provide revenue data in the future.

 

Data provided in the cost reports includes expenditures per day for staff, transportation, drugs, medical equipment, and general or respite care.  This hospice data compendium is a valuable tool for providers of services, consultants, health policy planners, hospice advocates, investors, and trade associations looking to gain an understanding of the financial status of hospice agencies.
